AC control Christmas lights
AC control Christmas lights
Here's an odd one, I haven't seen any threads like it so far. The AC control unit on the 2000 Max has stuck in the on / start up mode, if there is one. All indicators and lights in the screen of the automatic AC control unit stay on, with absolutely no control on anything. Front def indicator is stuck on, but no blower, no response from any of the buttons or temp ****. Maybe the rear def. button, cuz if I listen carefully I can here a relay click when I push that one, but no indicator light. Checked all the fuses and fuse links I could find.. Removed the pos. lead on the battery overnight hoping to reset any micro-p in there.. Any one have an idea on how to troubleshoot or at least determine if the control unit needs replacing? Is there a fuse I might have missed? or is this a dead duck..
Sounds like the control panel is fried. Nissan calls it the auto amp.
It sounds like you have the auto climate control system. Do you have a screen that shows the temperature number setting? If so, there is a self diagnostic that you can run, but the screen has to be working for you to see the test results.

Yes, that is what I've come to believe... I've seen some used ones on e-bay and other sites.. do you know if any Auto unit from 2000-2003 will work, or how specific does the part no match need to be..?
The unit for the 2000 and 2001 is different from the unit for the 2002 and 2003. The difference is for the outside (ambient) temperature. For the 2000 & 01, there is a button in the screen that you push to see the temperature. That button is gone on the 2002 & 03 unit, replaced by a steering wheel button.
Everything else would work. If you use the 02/03 unit in a 00/01 car, you lose the ability to see the outside temperature. If you use a 00/01 unit in a 02/03 cat, you have 2 ways to view outside temperature. You can also use the Infiniti i30 & i35 control panels.
