Window question

I have done a search but can't find an answer to my question. I have a 5th gen 2001 Maxima SE; would be possible to swap the main window switch for the main window switch of a 5.5 gen (an 02 or 03) as well as the passenger window switch and power window motor. The reason for my doing this is that I'd like to have the same auto up/down feature for my car.....

It might be possible. You'd have to look at the plugs of the master window switches to see if they even match. If they match it might work If they don't then you'd have to solder the 02-03 plugs to the switch which to be honest sounds like a whole lot more work than it's worth. The EARLY 02's actually have a different master window switch than the later 03's BUT i don't know if the plugs where changed between gens.

Yes, I say that because it is true. While the parts will fit in the car, they won't work because the wiring between the switches and motors are different. The 5.5 has more wires. And to make it even more difficult, Nissan played musical chairs with wires in the switch connectors.

And the window switches are different for each year of the 5th gen.

As it seems the window switches are the same, am I missing something?
The part number for the L/R Front window switch is 254112Y900 and is for
all 2000/2003 Maxima. Actually that number is F/R 2000/2003.
The motors appear to be different, left motor 2000/2003, but right motor 2000/2001, regulators same.

That information is not correct. Where/what are you looking at that tells you this?

We are talking about different doors/switches. You are referring to the rear door window switch and are correct on that switch.

The op is asking about the "main window switch" that I interpret to be the driver's door switch and my comments refer to the driver's door master switch.

It is also the passenger front door switch, but yes, the master, 04/01/1999 to 06/01/2001.
