1998 pontiac grand prix gt vs 2000 max?
Friend of mines just got a grand prix gt, while i was driving it, i instantly noticed the low end torque advantage (217 vs 225). It hit street speeds with much less pedal. I was wondering how do you think the grand prix would stack up against a 2000 max? I had a 02 grand prix and it has nothing above 90mph so i know my max would eat it alive up top. But i do think the grand prix would take a slight lead up intil about 60 or 70mph.
I had a modded bolton 1996 5speed maxima, brother had the same mods in his 2001 grand prix gt and he beat me off the line but I caught up to him in 2nd, 3rd and we were neck and neck to 120, GTPs however are a whole different story.

Bro,you gonna get banned with all these street racing threads

Yes i know GTP's are nothing to even think about sleeping on, its no way a 5th gen max would keep up with a gtp at low and mid range. Just way too much torque for a stock max, but the max would probaly pull at the top end. The gt on the other hand would probaly keep up good but than the max would start pulling. The 2002 Max is a completly different story!
Oddly enough, my car was picked from these two options of cars. I've noticed generally the Maximas from this year, compared to that model Pontiac tend to stay in better shape. Not saying that the 00/03 Maximas here have really held up, but similar year Pontiacs, especially the Pontiac grand prixs are generally just barely beating along. Most of the ones I see here even warped dashboards just from sun damage. Power might be neck and neck, but quality...
Looks like HG failure is common on one of the series.
The rest of the car might as well be made in china. The interior is atrocious. They couldn't even use properly machined bolts in the suspension. I worked on one and couldn't get metric or SAE to fit snugly on the bolts (and it was all original). Why would I try SAE, too? B/c GM thinks it's cute to use both standards. They should have been dissolved instead of stealing 7 billion dollars from taxpayers in collusion with the govt. They also intentional killed at least 128 people (possibly many more) to save 90 cents/unit on ign switches. And no one will ever be held accountable (which is why they declared bankruptcy).
Anyone that buys GM products new should be ostracized. Sure, it's Corporate American, but it's UNamerican to buy that garbage.
Can I rant about Dodge/Chrysler, too?

Girlfriend is pissed her car isn't faster than mine. She hasn't been back to the track since.
We are doing a LS6 intake swap and new roller rockers and springs. She will smoke me after that
My girlfriend has an 07 gxp with the 5.3l v8. Her car with a custom exhaust and CAI and my 03 6 speed stock. From a fast roll the maxima would run side by side all the way to 120mph. Though from a dead stop she pulled 3 cars on me no matter how well I launch. She added a Diablo tuner and custom tune and I modded my car(see sig) and she still pulls very hard on me in first though I fly by her around 65 to 70mph. They have no power in the mid to high rpms. The launch on that car is all it has.

Lol yess, the intake gaskets went on my 02 grand prix that i owned! The maxima is far better built than that car, the 3800 makes descent low end, but is **** slow on the top end. Oh yeah, his exhaust fell off last night while i was driving.

I raced this evo 10 from a roll man he was gone then a huge fireball afterwards i took the next exit home lol.
All racing aside, My max has 181k on it. It is by far the most reliable car i have ever had with this many miles. And everything is still tight and works good. I have never had any american car with that many miles not have stuff falling off, or interior being torn up. And im not a foreign car fanboy, my brother has a 92 accord that with the exception of typical honda rust on the quarters the interior looks brand new.
