Foam piece around air intake snorkel

Does it serve a purpose? If so, I'll pick up a strip from the hardware store. Mine peeled away a long time ago.

Random pic showing the foam:

I took that stupid "intake" thing out completely. Makes the engine sound a bit louder. Plus, I don't have to worry about the foam 😂.

It might be good taking a look at the seal between the snorkel & airbox

If you remove the filter it sounds like a v8!

Everything on the car serves a purpose, and yes I replaced that foam piece with an OEM one. I have to do the snorkel connection one next.

That's a pretty good joke. My 300ZX had an anti-vapor lock system as if it's carbureted. It has zero purpose. Brackets from the 3.5 UIM to the block are pointless.
There's varying degrees of uselessness like the foam being 100% inconsequential to having coolant warm the TB to prevent hypothetical (but never real world) ice accumulation. It's not needed and isn't worth spending a dime on.
Snorkel to the box rattles? Duct tape.

Always wanted a 1994 300ZX TT, unmolested of course.

Exactly. These cars have a ton of useless parts on them. I have a box full of thick metal brackets that did nothing but hold one or two wires. I can't think of anyone who uses more brackets than Nissan.

Ever looked at the 6 feet of metal clutch line on a 5.5 gen? Horrible!

JFC, I forgot about that. A giant ******* designed that for the sole intent of pissing people off. If it's supposed to be a type of cooler, then that engineer needs banned from working for life.
