Half moon seal (assuming the new rear main isn't leaking)

do you have automatic with electronic controlled mounts? Maybe if you disconnect the mounts the extra torque could cause the leak?

I am serious, though. The seal is fine, it just gets flattened. A thick bead of RTV on top with some under it (and waiting for it to partially cure before tightening) will fix it good as new. There's quite a bit on it from the factory.

yeah with both Valve covers and oil pan you HAVE to ad a bit of RTV in certain locations around the actual flange.
With the oil pan you HAVE to ad RTV on both sides of the rubber seal. Without the RTV These seals will definitely leak!

How could you remove this and not know that?

Now It could be fuel getting into the oil somehow. Fuel will eat away at RTV immediately.
