2-3 and Nissan tranny's. My experience with my 6spd tranny is not a big deal, 3rd gear is just a little notchy and takes some getting use too. IMO, I would not call this a "problem" just something nissan should clean up for the next model year. WillSE's car sounds like it definatly has a problem.

i just test drove a 6 speed for the first time tonight. i had this post in mind while i was driving it. although i didnt notice any major grinding into 3rd it did seem kind of "weird". it just didnt feel like every other gear when pushing the shifter into place. im new to manual cars so i dont have much credibility but 3rd gear did seem abnormal on the car i drove too.
Good news. I remember back in the day when I had a 5.0 mustang (rustang to some of you). I needed a new cluctch. Burned it up doing a line lock. Anyhow, the throw out bearing kept going and I had to get it replaced a few times. Hope that doesn't happen to you.
