Intresting Tranny safety feature on our crappy trannys

This morning while I just got out the parking lot to go to work, I wanted to shift my automagic into netral while i was already moving at around 10mph because I wanted to rev it cause I thought I heard knocking, and by accident I dropped it into Reverse for split second.....I thought I messed up the tranny but the car automatically turned off.

I never noticed that before, not like I ever need to, but that is kinda cool, since I used to own american cars and that bad boy will drop regardless of wheather you moving or not.

you pressed the brake when u shifted to neutral?? i thought the shift lock doesnt let you shift down to brake unless you put on the brakes.

Not while you are moving, the brake is not needed. And yes the car instantly shut off and came to a stop.

I was like WTF?

There you go again with those Reverse neutral drops, and you wonder why your tranny is acting up

JK, that does seem like a cool safety feature.

I thought at that moment, Crap, but also Hell yeah I smoked the tranny, time for a new one. Then noticed it just turned off.

Yep, happens a lot with people who manually shift in Auto-X events too.
You see them go around the corner and then the car stops in the middle of the track!

Idiot feature...
(No offense)

i would think that one would have to literally RAM it into reverse, while the car was moving. I know you can easily shift from D to 2 or 1, while the car is moving. But for some reason i am thinking that to go from D or N, while the car is moving, into R would need RAMMING,,,BTW BIGDOG i see you chaned your car plate color,,looks nice. got my muffler installed yesterday,,,damnnnn sounds nice..thanks for the help on that,,,

Yeah the muffler is great, Mine is herrendously loud now that me and Jason Reynolds installed the Cattman SS Ypipe. Now I gotta get a custom Bpipe made with 2 resonators to mellow out the sound.

Yeah I finally got my Alabama plates, needed them since I got those 8tickets in Maryland and since my parents live down in Alabama, during christmas break, just got the plates transfered. Avoided all the tickets now.

Yo BIGDOG. I asked my friend, who owns a muffler shop, for a test pipe. He said that i shouldn't do it, cause it will mess up the 02 sensor...and that it will, in the long run mess up the engine???
i didn't have any solid answers, so i just nodded my head, without arguing with him.....what do u say to that??

Bullshiet. Cause Adam from AZ ran one on his car for over 1yr and never ran into one problem. Now if you have a Cali Spec car, you will for sure have no problem cause the testpipe will be straight through with no O2 sensor needed on the testpipe.

If you have a FedSpec, then you would need a O2 sensor and the testpipe will be about 19" long. This will not only remove the Cat but the small 4-5" piece that holds the O2 sensor right before it hits the resonator. This is the setup Adam had.

Believe me, putting a testpipe will in no way hurt the engine, if anything will love the 2-3mpg increase in gas mileage. I do. Plus if you get a check engine light at first, just reset the whole ecu by leaving the battery unplugged OVERNIGHT. It will reset it back to normal.

Thats whay i thought. Can u post exactly how long of a 2.5 inch pipe u have? I will just have my dad make me one. Also how do i find out about what spec my car is? Cali or Fed?
He was saying something like, the car needs a catalic converter, cause it re-routes the air back into the engine,,,something like that!!!

That dude at the muffler shop is soooooo full of it. Aint no way a Cat re-routes back to the engine. The way to find out if you got a cali spec or fed spec is follow these directions.

http://www.cattman.com/images/produc...ec-diagram.jpg

Also if you are need of a Calispec pipe, just measure the cat end to end. It should be 12.5" It needs to have flanged ends with floating header clamps.
