Best Exhaust Setup/Exhaust Question

hello all. I'm rather new to the forums, and new to the scene of Maxima's. I have been eyeing a couple of Maxima's to buy in the coming months, but can't really find a good exhaust set up.

Does anyone know of a good brand of header, y pipe, and other parts for exhaust system that would go good with the HKS exhaust? Thanks in advance for your help. I'm looking more for a purr or growl like the Z's give off.

Also, could or would a 350z exhaust setup bolt directly to the maxima or would it require a lot of custom fab work?

Oh, boy, you better just google and read all the exhaust threads before you get flamed into submission.

And why would you think that a RWD exhaust on a completely different chassis could bolt up?

didnt think about the RWD setup effecting it bolting on. Also the whole Google look up isn't that helpful, especially since most of them are all outdated by YEARS. It would be better if there were more full exhaust set ups but it's mostly just exhaust, leaving you to guessing the best pipes to use.

I think people have gotten the 350z muffler to fit with some tweaking.

Use some duct tape, and make the 350z work

I put this one on my 03 maxima. Sounds great and was a perfect fit. I'm looking into some new headers too.

I did a lot of research here on the forum for a new exhaust for my 03 maxima. there are lots of threads with some good info.

I went ant with an SRS catback. Makes a nice low deep growl and doesn’t sound obnoxious.

Exhaust threads aren't outdated. Nothing has changed except availability. There is no cattman or hotshots or w/e. You have ebay, obx or modded ebay altima headers (pretty damn good). I guess BRM still makes the 3" catback. There, it's updated.

I’m going to raise this from the dead instead of making another thread. I’m having all the same questions. I’ve been considering the BRM for a long time now, but I don’t want a loud exhaust. At all. A very low drone is ok, but that’s really all. My stock set up is rusted all to hell. I’d like to get something all stainless steel, 2.5”. 18” resonator. I guess with a high flow cat? I figure at this point, as pointed out above, options are scarce. I guess it would be between SRS and BRM? Has anything changed in the past year?

The stock cat is 2.5" , not worth spending money to replace it with "high flow". You can get Tru-Bendz exhaust also and install whatever muffler you want. You'll need a muffler if you want it quiet without drone. Grab a decent condition stock one, maybe get a vibrant resonator...
