there's no meaning behind it, Nissan have their trim strategy. Back in the 80's it was GL and SE then they changed in 87-1994 to GXE and SE, then 1995-2004 the changed to GXE, SE and GLE, then changed again, they got rid of GXE trim and SE trim, all you see now it's S,SV, SL and Platinum, which add a lot of confusions which make no sense, it was a lot simpler when when GXE was base model, SE for sportier trim and GLE for luxury trim with leather. Wished Nissan kept it simple, but I think they had to change for pricing structure reasoning.

I think it’s dumb how you could upgrade the SE to be the exact same as a GLE. I think the GLE should have retained trim-specific features such as memory seating only available on the GLE.

But if you want the chrome door handles you've got to go with the GLE.

I've often wondered what a lot of Trim levels mean on all manufactorers. Back in the 1980's Ford had a lot of cars with "GL" & "LX" trim levels. I assume the "LX" was for luxury but for the longest time I wondered what the "GL" was. Toyota used to have "CE" as trim level, that's another one that's always baffled. Classic edition??

The X i think is just anything

theres no specified features. It could have power seats, but no lighted vanity, or lighted vanity but no power seats.

The GLE has a specific features.

CE was a completely stripped down base trim. Crap Edition.
