Gap the spark plugs or leave them alone?
The time has finally come for me to do a job I've been putting off for a while now. Going to be doing plugs, front & rear valve covers and rear coils. FSM calls for a 0.043 in plug gap, but they come pre-gapped @.044 in. A lot of people say not to mess with the gap and just drop 'em in.
Since gaps open up over time (Giggity) I think I should set them to spec from the get-go. What do you guys think?

The OEM plugs are 0.001 inch greater then the spec? I'd have to say don't change the gap, this day and age, I think they all come pre gapped based on the performance of the plug...but who knows. BTW, to change it 0.001 it's like nutz to get that right...

While the spec is .043, being .001 off isn't going to make any difference. The accuracy of your gauge, the accuracy of your technique using that gauge, the temperature when you are gapping the plug all factor into whether you will have the specified gap when you are done. Add to that, the ignition coils are so powerful that .001 isn't going to make any difference.
