New Maxima Owner

Hey, what's up people. I just picked up my 2000 maxima the other day for $200. It ran rough and had a bad misfire. Started with the basics and went to change the plugs and found out the coil packs hated life and decided to break into pieces. I picked up headers, a y pipe, a frankencar catback, and a maxxtuning lip yesterday from a semi local maxima enthusiast. This car is a high mileage car but has minimal rust so I was thinking of an engine swap some point soon. I was thinking of an HR swap but that would require a ton of custom stuff. Or there's always the vq35de which seems a lot simpler. I've got a ton of reading to do but, I just wanted to post and say hi.

Congrats you will love it but surely you will need to replace something for a car with high mileage. One note on the HR motor will not work on Maxima for a lot of reason first off the HR aka high revolution engine is for RWD set up and only found on Infiniti midship platform so it a no go for the Maxima and secondly the tranny will not mate to it and lastly the motor mounting points again are not the same on FWD set up

Do the 5.7 swap and call it a day. 200 bucks is a steal
