Strange Electrical/HID Issue

Hi,

On the passenger side HID, it will work for weeks without any issue, but then go out for sometimes a couple of weeks. We've swapped bulbs with the driver's side, which works, so it's not the bulb.

Mechanic thinks that we may have to replace the ballast.

The strange thing is that when I plug in the phone charger and then turn on the headlights, it usually comes on.

Any idea as to what may be going on?

Thanks so much!

It could be the ballast. Another thing to check is the ground connection that each headlamp has. It is a black with yellow stripe wire. Follow it from the headlamp assembly to where it is attached to the body.

The thing with the phone charger is interesting, but I don't see how that could affect anything.

My intermittent HID problem turned out to be a bad igniter. Maybe swap the two?
