VQ30DE Compression Test Result

I did a compression test on my max just to see what they are. Prior to the test, I didn't notice any loss power, no CEL, other than losing about 1 quart oil every oil change (4000 miles). It puffs off a blue smoke in the morning or after sitting for a long period of time. No smoke under hard acceleration. Car gas 197XXX. Original engine and drive train.

This test was a dry test. I wanted do wet test but its getting dark. Remember to release fuel pressure and remove the fuse before you do this (follow FSM).

After 2 readings:

Cyl 1 = 175/170
Cyl 2 = 185/185
Cyl 3 = 170/175
Cyl 4 = 170/175
Cyl 5 = 155/150
Cyl 6 = 180/175

Spark plug tips look light brown on all of them. Other than the gap was a mile long, no oil residue and look pretty clean on all of them.

So, looks like the compression number is good individually, but something going on on #5 for sure. I probably do leak down test to pin point, but my gut tells me it's a worn ring and valve not seating properly.

What do you guys think.

Thanks

That's pretty good for a car with 197k miles on the clock. I am sure the oil consumption is annoying you a bit, but let's face it, it's not the end of the world.
My 2000 SE/AT has no measurable oil consumption at 149.2k miles. A recent oil analysis revealed high lead content, suggesting there may be a problem with one of the bearings. Annoying, but I am trying not to loose any sleep over it.

The burning oil isn't that annoying compared to the oil leak from the RMS, Front Crank, upper oil pan, and valve cover. The reason I was doing the test is to see if I need to do more things while I take the engine out of to do the all the seals and clutch replacement.

I'll see what I find from leak down test, although I would probably leave it alone as long as it doesn't leak anymore.
