crank pulley nut

2000 maxima 3.0 automatic.

recently my crank pulley broke off into 2 seperate pieces. so im trying to replace it. i am running out of ideas need help really dont wana send it away to a garage and spend extra money.

1. i have tryed winching the pulley so it doesnt move. 1/2 breaker bar with impact socket and a pipe for extra leverage. wont budge. also broke a breaker bar.

2. tryed two different impact guns. a milwaukee and a snap on. wont budge.

3. have tryed the trick with a breaker bar and tapping the starter to crack the nut. did this for about 2 hours til i decided to quit. nut wont budge.

any ideas guys? someone mentioned maybe tortch the nut but idk. please help lol

It's a bolt not a nut. And are you doing lefty loosy?

And never put an impact on the crank bolt.

Here is a thread that may help. You put breaker up against the control arm......

I had to use a 1" or a 3/4" impact on mine. That took it right off but it's not something most of us have in our home shops. It just laughed at a brand new 1/2" Snap-On gun.

We always use impacts on crank bolts at the shop.

your welcome

Also unplug the coil packs so you can crank longer.

I use this,if all else fails. And it tends to win.

Soak with good penetrating oil for a day (I like deep creep, easily available), torch as hard as you can and beat it with the best impact you have. Rinse and repeat if the rust is that bad lol.
