p0304/P0300 and a rod knock?!
Long Story Short
Driving down the freeway, SES Light flashed, slight loss of power, vibration, and knock! Pulled over, checked code and p0304. Towed car home -_-
Looked around engine bay no visible issues, all fluids looked fine. Ran engine for 1min to get the vid.
Plan of action:
After conducting 1,2 cleared code, and now have a p0300. The sound the car has going on has me thinking it may be a rod knock or piston knock. Ohhh the fear of saying goodnight

Plan of action:
- check spark plugs - carbon deposit on plugs in cylinder 2,4,6. Replaced all 6 plugs
- coils - check resistance on all coils, all within specs. Replaced cylinder 4 coil with a new hitachi i had laying around.
- check injectors
- check MAF
- compression test

Yeah pretty much, had only p0304, now only p0300. Will conduct the other test later on tonight, and report back.

Hey, I had the same thing happen to my 03 at the end of last year. Casually driving home, all of a sudden CEL is flashing and the car has a nasty misfire and sounds likes its knocking from hell.
Wanted to tow the car home, ended up saying **** it and drive it home 45 miles anyway with the misfire. Pulled codes and got p0304 and p0300. Oil in spark plug boots and one plug was really fouled out.
You can confirm that the coil pack itself is bad by swapping the presumed bad coil with another coil pack from a different cylinder, clearing the codes and restarting the car this is obviously easier on the front of the engine than the back. I was able to do this by switching 4 with 6, and the code followed as well. Ordered a brand new OEM Hitachi coil pack, installed and the car ran golden as it ever has.
But yeah, I for sure thought the car was toast. The misfire was so bad and the engine was shaking so violently I thought for sure the noise was rod knock, but here I am still driving it daily and she is quiet as can be since the new coil pack and new plugs.
