17 or 18 inch wheels?

I'm thinking about getting some aftermarket wheels to replace the stock 17s on my AE. How much difference in handling and ride is there between 17s and 18s? If I go 17s then I can use my stock Protenzas until I melt them (I really dislike them). Or, if I go with 18s I will need to buy new tires as well. I am pretty sure that one day I will lower may car slightly (1-1.5") with H&R springs. I know with the 18s I will probably go 40 series tires, but are 40s okay for 17s as well? I'm just full of questions!!

there shouldn't be much difference in ride between 17&18.

If you got the $ go with 18s. If you think it is to harsh go to a 45 or 50 series tire.

Just watch the weight, 18's may be a bit heavier.

go with 18." For tires i would get 45 series, that extra bit of rubber will save you from possably bending a rim. If you intend to lower your max a 40 series 17 is okay but will increase your wheel gap until you lower the car.

go with 18s.....get new tires potenzas suck...and like these guys have already said, if its too harsh, go with a taller tire, but pretty much any quality aftermarket forged wheel will weigh less than the 47 pound porkers you have on there now....if i were you id shoot for about a 24 lb or less 18 inch wheel. they will be harder to find, but will be worth what you pay
