Ignition cylinder went out

Hey everybody, my ignition cylinder went out on my 00 GLE manual. I've replaced it with a brand new ignition cylinder, and the engine will crank, but won't turn on. This ignition cylinder is for a manual transmission, everything is plugged in correctly. I have not the slightest clue of as to what could be causing the engine not to come on. My car does have the stock alarm system in it, so I believe it could be the security system preventing me from starting the engine. Has anyone ever changed their ignition cylinder, and if so, could you share what you did, so I can get this repair done with?

The ignition cylinder you just replaced contains the control unit for the Nissan immobilizer (IMMU, aka NATS). The new unit you just bought does not know about your car keys; it thinks somebody is trying to steal the car, and it prevents the car from being started.
Your red security light should be on solid when you crank, confirming what I just said.

I suggest you do the following:
- Download the EL section of the FSM from here: http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Maxima/
- Read the description of the NATS/IMMU subsystem starting on page EL-322
- Next, you need to register your car keys with your NATS/ECU. Normally, this is done by a Nissan dealer, or by a qualified locksmith (might be cheaper).
Good luck!
