2003 Maxima Help

Hello all... first time poster! I am trying to help my daughter with a problem she is having with her 2002 Nissan Maxima.

When she is stopped and lets her foot off the brake the car shakes bad for a few seconds. While driving it feels normal. This does not happen all the time maybe once a day, but it is scaring her.

Her CEL is on and I checked the codes. She has the following codes: P0037, P1167, P0159, and P0301. She has had some ignition coils replacied in 2016, but I don't know which ones. I replaced all the spark plugs about 2 months ago when I did her valve cover gasket.

Right now I am going to swap out ignition coil 1 with another and see if the code changes to a different cylinder.

Does anyone have any other suggestions and can a bad ignition coil cause the other codes?

thank you!!!

The last one is a coil. The others is a faulty A/F o2 sensor. One of the 2 located before the O2 sensor. Not clear which one. Check connections. If replaced Don't use Bosch.

The P0301 is the ignition coil on cylinder 1, which is against the firewall, the passenger side.

P0037 is for the oxygen sensor, bank 1 sensor 2. Bank 1 of the engine is the side by the firewall. Sensor 2 is the O2 sensor after the pre-catalytic converter in the exhaust y-pipe.

The other two codes - P0159, P1167 - are for the same one oxygen sensor, bank 2 sensor 2. Bank 2 of the engine is the side by the radiator. Sensor 2 is the O2 sensor after the pre-catalytic converter in the exhaust y-pipe.

If you get the ignition coil replaced, MAYBE the P0037 code will go away. You probably will have to replace the bank2 sensor, though.

Thanks for the replies. I swapped the ignition coils from cyl 1 & 2 and cleared the codes. The P0301 code went away. I guess the coil might have not been connected all the way. The CEL did come on again and the only code I git was P0037. I swapped out the O2 sensor for B1S2 and cleared the codes again. I have driven it about 30 minutes and the CEL light has not come on yet and no shaking at a stop. Tommorow will be the real test as it gets a longer drive.

Unfortunently I did use a Bosch so I hope I don't have any issues. What is the issue with Bosch?
