Repair help!

I have an 02' Nissan Maxima and do 90% of the work and labor on this thing. I have replaced and rebuilt more things on this car than I can count. I've got a new one that is stumping me. Recently my crankshaft positioning sensors went out. Threw a check engine light about it. I am working in a remote area with a small town a good 40 minutes away from my residency. I was in town when it started showing more obvious signs. Loss of power, car randomly dying, etc. I turned around and started heading back to my residency and about 30 minutes there I heard a loud bang then the car shut off. I was doing about 50 MPH. I got pulled over safely and did a quick inspection of the car and didn't see anything abnormal. I turn the car back on and there is a NEW loud clicking or like the sound some cars make when there's not enough battery power to turn it on, and a huge lack of acceleration. I got the new sensors in, check engine light is gone but the new noise remains.

Did you clear the codes or did they go out on their own? if you cleared, you won't know about pending problems for 50 miles

The codes went away on their own, I didn't clear them. I'm having trouble getting a video to post.

replace all 3 CPS sesonrs 2 cranks 1 camshaft with OEM, if you get aftermarket you will be back to the problem in a years time.

the random dying definately sounds like it, be glad you had a code, some dont and i didnt either

Could one of the sensors be the cause of this new noise in the car? The check engine light is gone so I would have thought the new sensors are working fine. I'm worried something else is wrong.

HR swap time.

You can check to see if there's a butterfly valve screw on the piston being jammed into the head. I guess if you're lucky, then it hasn't damaged a valve or anything else too severely.

I have no idea why you even ran the engine after that lol.

Pull off the "power valve" on the intake and see if there's a screw missing. It's happened to a few people, but not common (unlike every QR25). Even lesser chance it's from TB.

light or no light the sensors can be bad, i never had a light once, and the sensors were toast.

after watching your vid, it's seemingly worse than just some sensors. that knocking.... maybe your worst fear.

The thing that makes my head spin here is, what was the loud bang I heard? Why did it shut the car off? And how did it create this new knocking I've got? The bang and the knocking have to be related. It doesn't make sense without it. If not related then a big coincidence? First the sensors go out and then driving back home the bang happens. Then the knock starts.

I haven't yet. I haven't had lots of time lately to tinker with it. I'll probably be doing more to it today and tomorrow though. I'm in the process of elimination here. I've eliminated spark plugs and coil packs. All six of those are good. I'll being looking at the plugs themselves today and then possibly draining the oil to check for metal shavings. I'll post when I eventually figure it out

Those motor aren't worth the time tearing apart, faster and cheaper to put another in.
