what happens when i install a y-pipe without having a fullcatback?

Will the addition of a y-pipe improve performance of my car
even though I don't have a full catback? (I've got HKS)

What type of gains should i expect with an aftermarket y-pipe,
a R/T Cat Convertor and the HKS rear section?

And also.....how different will my car sound?

Thanks guys...

y pipe adds 8 - 12 hp
catback adds 2 - 4 hp

you do the math..

car will sound nice and quiet without the catback..

lots of us have y pipes alone.. better gains... sleeper look

hey I was wondering....I've got the HKS rear section. If I
put on any aftermarket y-pipe won't it sound a bit louder?

yup.. the aftermarket muffler or catback will sound louder with the y pipe.. most people think its the y pipe that makes the muffler/catback sound loud.. but its just because more air is flowing..

see most people do muffler/catback before y pipe.. but if you did it the opposite.. you would notice how quiet the car is.. and its actually the muffler and catback making it louder

I'm sure it does get louder with the Greddy system. I had to take my HKS off cuz it was giving me a headache from all the droning.

I heard the HKS on the MAX , INSANE amount of Sound .

Way too much for a luxury sports car, Its better to have power then sound.
