I saw someone sin yesterday.

I pulled up to the local exxon to put gas in the car.
This guy in a brand new 2k2 pulled up. He said nice car etc etc...
Then I saw him putting gas in and what do I see.

Some people never learn... It's his car, I guess he can do what he wants to it. Unfortunately, he'll suffer poor performance and then bad-mouth the Maxima

My car is leased, and believe me, I take very good care of it, including 91 octane fuel. When I turn it in after three years, its higher value will benefit me financially.

OOOOOOOHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh GODDDDDDDDDDD NO , I guess he can't read the little "PREMIUM FUEL" sitcker on the inside of the gas door. I would've said something like....B*tch step away from the regular~!.... but damn i feel sorry for his 3.5vq.

Re: I saw someone sin yesterday.

Ya should've told him to run 91? Maybe he owned a Camry before the 2k2.

Can you explain what you mean? Are you going to sell it for a profit over the residual? Because if you're just turning it in as you imply, having taken good care of it isn't going to benefit you. About the only thing that has helped me when turning in a lease has been real low mileage (Nissan forgave a cracked windshield and too many door dings on my '96 Altima because I was way under on mileage).

The 2K2 manual explains the knock-retard sensor and says that you can safely use regular unleaded, but that you'll get better performance from premium unleaded (91 or better). So maybe this guy just doesn't care about eeking every last horsepower out of it and instead wants to save a few bucks at the pump. (BTW, I always use 92-93 in mine.)

But, you also loss some gas mileage in the process, so your cost comes out even anyways. I use 92 also.

I take great care of my lease only because I know when the lease is up I'm going to buy it! or at least I'd better! Miles don't matter if I buy the car at the end, but they wanna charge $0.15 per mile over 36,000 miles for 3 years, I've owned my baby for 5 months maybe and put almost 10,000 on already! but they're nice caring miles

My 2002 is leased, as was my 99SE. I pamper my car from day 1 until end of lease. At that time I will decide what to do with it.

It's like taking a girl out. Even though you don't plan to marry her, it still ok to treat her nicely

Is 94 better to use than 92/93? I see that many people are using 92/93, but very rarely do i see 94 being used?

It's a question of availability. 93 is the highest available in my area so that's what I use. 94 may be in other parts of the country, fewer than 92 or 93.

Yes, I can explain. My lease arrangement states that the car should be worth $15,000 after the 3 years. This gives me an option. If the blue book value is more than $15,000 then I can buy the car to either to keep or sell at a profit. If the car is worth less than the $15,000 then I just will give it back to them and end the contract (and perhaps lease another). Therefore, it is in my interest to help keep its value as high as possible in order to make a potential profit.
