Transmission.lockup delayed 10km

Hi all, my 2000 infiniti i30 transmission will not lockup until about 10 km driving after cold start in the winter (-10C). In summer it takes about 4km to lockup. This seems abnormally long to wait for transmission lockup and probably takes a small hit in fuel economy. I have two theories. 1) The transmission fluid temperature sensor attached to the solenoids is giving a wrong reading. 2) Fluid is being routed to the radiator while still cold thus delaying the time to heat up (if such a mechanism exists). I would like to say at the same time that engine warmup is normal and quick. Also I have refreshed tranny fluid several times with OEM fluid.

How fast do you think the transmission is going to reach operating temp with 10 qts of fluid? This is completely normal and your engine is barely warmed up at this point, too (temp gauge is a dummy).

Idk why we keep getting posts about this. It doesn't lock up till it's warm and yours does...so why is it questioned? Start the goddamn thing and let it idle for 10 mins, then drive.

Oh ok, the reason is because it takes much longer than my 03 Odyssey to lockup. Now I know to expect this.

Couldn't find when it says the conditions. For Honda it just says "PCM optimized" lol

It should throw a code if it's not locking up properly.

My 2000 max yields pretty much the same as yours. No worries.
