When Do You Recommend Rod Bearing Replacement?
2001 Maxima 5sp w/ 202k
When do you guys recommend replacing the rod bearings?
I don't have a reason to change them, really, other than my harmonic balancer is no longer in balance and I'm about to replace it. Everything looks and sounds fine. I'm just curious if there's a certain mileage that's recommended for rod bearing replacement.
Thanks.

None that I know of for these engines under normal use or schedule 1 conditions as defined in the owners manual. If you have a very high number of cold cycles, instances of lugging the engine, high frequency of running to the redline, or running on the track or drag strip, then I think you should be doing an oil analysis to detect accelerating wear, and repair accordingly.
