Clutch Recommendations: OEM or 350Z for VQ30DE?

I'm going to replace the clutch in my 2001 Maxima since I need to replace the rear main seal and tranny seal. It has probably 240 hp, so nothing special.

I've read thread here about using the 350z clutch kit, but I was unclear on whether that was only for the 3.5L motors or the if it applied to the 3.0 motors, as well.

I'd also like to know what are good brands that aren't expensive.

This car is a workhorse. It has lots of extra weight in it, so it's over 3800 lbs. I want to make sure I get a clutch that's going to last. The clutch it has right now is good, and is a cheap OEM replacement clutch, I'm guessing, but I'm not sure.

What would you guys suggest? Any good deals out there at certain websites?

Thanks so much.

I went the OEM route and I am happy: Exedy clutch and Luk flywheel.

Thanks, Tom. That's the way I'm leaning.

Is a flywheel really needed? I have over 200k on the car, but unless a flywheel is warped, I don't see a reason to change it.

I had a OEM 2001 AE clutch in my 98 and my 99 has an Exedy stage one. I'd recommend either.

Flywheels are cheap. Since you will need to remove it to replace the oil seals behind it, just do it all and forget about it. Swap over your ring gear and timing ring.

As for the 3.5/350z thing, it won't work. They use dual mass flywheels and 6 speed transmissions.

Don't forget there are 2 oil seals to replace; rear main seal and upper oil pan seal. I have a few pics of my clutch, flywheel and oil seal install:

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. I've never seen a car with the oil seal setup like this one. How odd. Thanks for that heads up.
