safe mode
good day i have a 2003 maxima that goes into safe mode sometimes when i wash car, to get it out of safe mode i can either unplug the MAF sensor and it resets or i can reset the tranny and it drives good after that, any thoughts on this

Well, find out what's wrong with the car - when the problem occurs, check your codes!
I don't understand how washing the car can cause this unless you have the hood open and are washing the engine.
So I have questions.
What is the car doing that you are calling it safe mode. I have never heard of safe mode without a check engine light.
Exactly how are you resetting the MAF and the trans?
Could you give some more details?

Car starts fine but when you engage into drive it does not get pass 2000rpm it like it's stuck in 4th gear with no power

Safe mode
It only happens sometimes when I wash the max. I unplug the maf and then plug it back in and car drives normal I can also reset by turning key to red light then press gas pedel down for a minute turn car off then wait two minutes start car and it drives normal I have also changed the maf sensor twice and it still happens. There are times after washng car that it works perfectly

update on work done i changed out the brain and harness last week car works fine ,i washed it the day after change and no safe mode but washed car yesterday and wda it went back into safe mode i then switched off car turned it back on and it drives normal now /should i change the tranny or not
