I cant seem to find an existing thread on this so ill see if anyone has some knowledge on this. Im getting the car painted and I need to address some previous rust and prep work where the windshield meets the roof. My question is, can I cut out the weatherstrip/trim that is at the top? I wouldnt think it matters being that the windshield is glued in, but I want a second opinion first. Id prefer the car without it as well. Ill attach a picture
It will make a lot of noise without it. Some cars are designed without weatherstripping. Your best best is to ask a local windshield repair shop if they felt it would be possible to get it in position and water tight. If you ask a national chain they'll (Safelite, etc) likely give you some by the book answer.

That was probably my next move. Thanks for the response. I was mainly concerned about leaking lol. But it has to come out to fix that rust before it gets bad and I want to avoid removing the windshield
