I have gone through posts and can’t find how to tell if I have an vq35 engine. I have a 2002 se manual and I did run across a post that said they started it on 5th gen. Is this true and if so how can you tell by looking at the engine?

OP, you have a 3.5 motor. 2000-2001 came only as 3.0liter, 2002-2003 came only as 3.5liter. You could very easily find this out yourself by looking at the plate on your firewall, or the sticker in your door jam, or just googling it, but theres your answer. If you have a 6 speed trans, that would also be another dead giveaway.

edit; supposing none of that info was available, you could tell several ways. 3.0s have a throttle cable where 3.5s have electronic throttle. 3.0s have metal valve covers, 3.5s are plastic. 3.0s have black plastic intake manifold where the 3.5s have aluminum.

 

Yeah, Stevie Wonder could figure it out in 2 mins, b/c of all the differences.

all in perspective, you didn't mention that in your original question. if you specifically said hey i don't currently have access to the car, but was wondering if you can figure out engine type by vin, or by the year and model, may have avoided such answers. also generally speaking you can check the engine and specs of any production car online which is why we were all slightly confused in answering your question. chances are you don't have a modified car with an engine transplant etc and you could trust what the production year specs were on the car will match the car you are wondering about.

I picked up two cars recently a 03 ford Explorer V8 and a Nissan Armada V8 05 , i looked up these cars and knew instantly what they were. And i have never driven them.

A millenial myself, I am on the earlier band of that classification. All age-related classifications carry their specific groups that deviate from the norm that each group loves chastising one another for. Millenials just happen to be the current soup du jour to pick on. Gen Z'ers are next in line to catch the generational whipping, and so forth. Rinse, repeat.

 

Negative. The generations have been getting dumber and weaker since the R types were killed off in WWII. Plenty of scientific study and evidence supporting this, it is not a theory. I make fun of millennials for being this way, I don't blame them for how they became this way (boomers breeding generation daycare and single parent families). I'm just doing my part to make the world a better place. If I can **** off just one millennial enough he grows some *****, I have done my job, god knows his parent(s) didn't.

 

So if there is in fact scientific evidence on this matter, wouldn't you say this is done purposefully to dumb down society, and gauge the rate of progress (or regress considering the direction headed)? Could this not be attributed to the side effect of making everything simpler thanks to scientific and technological advancements which to some degree does away with reinforcing critical thinking, and basic problem solving skills? Each passing generation will pass down the fruits of their labor to the next, and so on will that trend continue. We are seemingly trying to make it easier and better for the new entrants to the life arena, but also bash them on the way out it appears.
