Do I spend 200 on the cheap Altima headers or 500 on the proper (but still junk) obx headers for an 02? I can't find any working pics of just how poorly the Altima headers fit. I work in an exhaust shop so I have all the tools needed to make them fit but don't want to spend all day on it.

Normally I wouldn't buy obx, ssac, etc. eBay stuff but apparently that's all that is around for these now.

Car in question is an 02 6 speed.

Thomas Perdue Jr (FB) I think is t3678p here on the org made y pipes for them without chopping the headers. There are pics of his installs floating around on the various Maxima facebook groups.

Why bother? I'll still be faster than you with full stock exhaust.

Well that explains why this car didn't feel any quicker than my 2000. It would lay over around 5k or so. Just didn't want to pull.

Cut headers, built new y-pipe. Runs so much better.

Included pic of stock front header fitment before cutting. Did not take pic of rear.

Ordered 02+Altima/04+Maxima headers. Built the y out of the included pipe plus about 6" of scrap I had lying around.

Total time from pulling car in to starting it after extending the bank 2 o2 wires was about 7 hours.

Nice work. Welds look pretty good. Are you running stock cat back? Stock muffler? Was there an increase in sound?

Did you have to bend anything yourself? How did you model the runs then transfer to the tubing bender? Can you link the headers you bought?

Amazon Amazon

I didn't do any bends for the headers/y. I managed to use all the existing bends that came with the kit. Just cut and weld as needed. Used a flex off the shelf for between the banks as seen in the pics. The rear flex is the one from the kit. Used an off the shelf magnaflow cat. I don't need to go catless in my kid transporter.

Catback is 2.5" stainless I built the day after buying the car. The kid before me cut off the muffler and resonator using muffler clamps and wire to put it back together.

2.5" 409 stainless, magnapack for a reso and borla muffler. V-band right in front of the rear suspension to allow disassembly as it's all welded.

It got significantly louder. I need to quiet it down. Might try to find a 00/01 stock se muffler and mod it to fit. Swap it out for the borla if I ever go to the track.

That's the deal-breaker for me.

Now you need a tune. Strong work putting all that together.
