You know how the 2000 and 2001 Maxima have that issue where the idle is irradic and it's due to the IACV going bad which blows a transistor in the ECU?

Well, does that problem ever have symptoms where the idle doesn't go high or irradic, but instead just idles out periodically?

My car is starting to idle out a lot.

Also, I changed the IACV and did a coolant bypass on it. Can that problem happen if a coolant bypass has been done?

My car idles perfect and i have done this on multiple cars. I think most idle problems are people playing with their cars and creating a vacuum leak.

Only a smoke test can find it.

Also it is possible the ECU is bad,many of these ECU's do not look burnt or have any smell,but are bad or going bad.

 

Yeah, the car has a a vacuum leak I've been needing to track down and I figured this issue is related, but I wanted to check and see if it could be the ECU, as well. I'll fix the vacuum leak today and see if that fixes this idle issue.
