00 Maxima 3.0l V6 Questions about issues it has...

Hello all!! I have been a member for a while. I just hardly have the time to post anymore. Well, due to college and kids, plus work and their school. It's been hectic. So, recently, my 2000 Maxima 3.0l V6 (gxe) has been acting crazy!! Sometimes, it will bog down and lose power. I have to hold the gas petal to the floor to go. It dies at times when I first start it. It revs up on its own when it's warming up at times. And it has a hella miss occasionally. I know it isn't the coils or the plugs. Plugs have regularly been changed. I changed the knock sensor about 8 months ago. All crank and cam sensors have been replaced. I'm thinking it's either the maf sensor or the cads are clogging up. It has so many new parts on it, that those 2 are the only issues I could think of that it could be. How many cads are on these cars, and what is the location of all of them? Any of u very experienced mechanics think u can help me pinpoint the culprit? Help is much appreciated!! Thanks.

From: California
Yes, I agree that the suspects are: a) Your MAF, b) Your IACV, and c) Your CATs.
I presume there are no codes, correct?

At any rate, start with the easiest - this being your MAF; you may want to read this thread https://maxima.org/forums/5th-genera...-cuts-out.html before you jump in). If cleaning/replacing the MAF doesn't help, check out your IACV (Was it ever replaced? In either case, read my document about ECU Failure Prevention, see the link in my signature below).

Finally, if the problem persists, it may be necessary to look at your (pre)Cats. If you are not in CA, NY, or one of the other PITA states there are quite a few options available to you, just search. I live in California and I was forced to replace my precats - twice durring the last 5 years. If you also live in one of the PITA states, read this thread; https://maxima.org/forums/5th-genera...0430-code.html .

Stop.

Breathe.

Pull your codes.

Report back.
