Gabriel Ultra , not bad

I picked up a full set of Gabriel Ultras on Rockauto.com for $120.14 shipped, they are listed as wholesaler closeout. I went with them since I wasn't satisfied with the cheap Sensen set I got from Autozone.

I ordered a set for a 2000 since I read that the 02-03 have softer suspension. Gabriel part numbers shows same part numbers for their 2000-2003 rear struts but not for their fronts. their front struts have separate part numbers for 00-01 and 02-03 which may just be due to the difference in ABS sensor mounting.

The car handles way better at highway speeds, less nose dive when stopping, less squatting under acceleration, no torque steer and steering response feels a lot better....

May I add that I also have full Energy Suspension bushings installed front and rear with Megan Racing lowering springs.....

I drove the 2000 again yesterday as I just started pulling my 02 engine for some cleaning. Significantly stiffer in the 00.

I can measure them but it looks like a different part number. Then in 02 it's different between manual and auto on the se.

I just got off the interstate and it feels like I'm driving a totally different car, it feels way more stable at higher speeds...

Good ole" Sensen, I always wanted to try them out on a cheap *** customer who didn't what to spend any real money....But I figured they'd give about 1/10th the life of some KYB GR-2's... Great for a car you're about to sell and you don't want to hurt profit margin LOL! Not good enough for any car I'll be driving!

the Sensens were horrible. I think they were worse than the worn out KYB's that had who knows how many miles on them when I got the car. I got the car back in December of 2012 with 175,XXX miles and now I'm at around 276,XXX.. The Gabriel Ultras has given me another reason to keep my car even longer, handling is really good now and feels great on the highway..
