Oil Disptick Length

Hello! I'm a new member to the forum so I apologise if this was posted anywhere but I couldn't find it when I searched. I have a weird request. I was hoping someone could measure their oil dipstick for me from the place where it enters the block to the end. I just bought my 5th gen and for some reason the dipstick is missing. I bought a universal kit but I need the length to make it. I appreciate any help I can get.
thanks!
Cody

I would buy a new one from the dealer or any part stores, they stock them otherwise head to junk yard, you'll find one.

JB Weld the hole. Only pussies check their oil.

this guy knows what's up

Also buy an original Nissan dipstick, it shouldn't be too expensive regardless of where you look, and I'd suggest adding about half a bottle of seafoam into the crank case, drive it like mad for about 8-10km and go change your oil and filter right after. You don't know how long it's been without a dipstick and you don't know what kind of foul stuff got sucked into the dipstick hole, but it's most likely not very good for your engine.

You must make a hell of an accountant. I didn't even know you made those pictographs, I just thought it's not the first time a guy had to whittle down a dipstick for a maxima.

Someone asked about the dip stick back in October 2013 and I took the pictures. Remembering what I have is a challenge.

Sorry, no. Never had problems with mine. What do you need to know about it?

You know that little screw on top of the tb by the cable (assuming you have a 2000 max) that they tell you not to touch and it's factory set? I touched it. A bunch. Now my tb acts weird and this is my only explanation for now. So I figured if I get a close-up of someone's untampered tb I could probably count the threads and try to get mine back to factory.

I don't know the answer to that either. It seems that I recall that the screw does not not actually touch anything. Try backing it off so that it is not holding the throttle open. The IACV (idle air control valve) is what controls the idle rpm.

I don't have a car to look at any more to see.

My idle's fine, I tricked my IACV valve so now I'm idling at 750 and 6 in drive. It's when I drive. One thing is when I gently press the gas and the tb or engine struggles to go past the 1500-2k rpm mark but works fine if I press harder, the other thing is when I'll be driving and the rpms will shoot up to 3k (with no acceleration, just rpms) for about a second and then immediately go back to the normal range.

You may have an air leak or a wonky throttle cable. Post pictures of your tb and throttle cables.

I don't have a picture right now but I just recently tightened my tb cable. The cruise control cable I left alone because it never gave me problems. Air leak where, by the tb? I've replaced the tb gasket with an aftermarket one when I took it apart, I'll admit it didn't look nearly as airtight as the stock one but it should've still worked...

Thanks everyone for all the help! I do plan on getting an oem dipstick in the near future but I just needed something to be able to check the oil in the meantime and to block the hole. Wants to learn on this form and I appreciate all the helpful input.
