Aftermarket radio intermittently will not turn on

I have a 2003 Maxima with a Kenwood aftermarket receiver. About half the time when I start the car, the unit will not turn on. If I turn the car off, then restart it again, it turns on every time. Has anyone seen this issue before?

I have an aftermarket stereo that would do something similar. Turns out it needed a firmware update to correct a bluetooth issue that would cause it to not turn on or randomly turn off. I guess my advice is to make sure your firmware is up to date (if you have a stereo that supports that). My next best guess would be a loose power / remote wire.

You’ve diagnosed your own problem and don’t even know it.
