I've ordered the beck arnley inner tie rod end from Rock Auto. This is Beck Arnley 101-7726.
its listed as the right which is the driver's side?
I didnt see Nissan's part number in the listing. This paRt number is 48521-5Y085.
anyone out there know if this inner tie rod will work in my 2001 GLE?
the wire with the two loops at each end was a twist tie to hold the dust boot from pulling off. Its a really lousy design. If you perform this work, do yourself a favor and throw these items that are circled in red out, consider using plastic zip ties or hose clamps.
If you use the pancake washer with your crowfoot adapter, how would you remove the adapter if it ends up upside down? you would have to remove the stabilizer bar bushing to get the crows foot adapter off. Its a lousy design as well, do yourself a favor and throw the pancake washer out as well, unless you remove the stabilizer bar bushing bracket or the whole rack.

I've installed the pancake washer with success it's a necessary item so please don't throw it away! It's a locking tab washer to make sure the inner tie rod doesn't inadvertently back off or loosens enough to fall off or break off causing a lost of control of your car! It's there for a reason! As for the tie rods they should be identical L/h vs R/h! The difference as a kit is the boot/bellows one is shaped different than the other! When buying outer or inner tie rods for the Maxima period all the way back to 1985 the L/H & R/H inner are the identical and L/H & R/H outer tie rods are identical per model. So if you check Rock Auto on just the bellows you'll see their p/n's are different per side and a slight difference in appearance. I'm about to change my Rack & Pinion gear as well as an assembly locally! Good luck orger!
So when I removed the original tie rod ends, Nissan had no locking mechanism on it!
On another thread here on the .Org , they posted up that theyre not necessary. Idk seems like a nice insurance measure.
Heres an image of the original tie rod end before it was broken loose with a tie rod tool. You see theres no locking washer and I thank Nissan for that. It is a small area and a pitn to access.
At 60ftlbs I doubt it will come loose
the swing force during an alignment is barely 20lbs.

A whole rack rebuilt is approx. $285 with Rock Auto,
Had I known what a task it was going to be I wouldve considered just ordering that and dropping it in.
would that tighten up the steering system?
