cruise control not working.

hey my cruise stopped working a while ago but haven't got the time until now to fix.

the light that activates cruise works, but the light that engages / sets does not.

i don't see any fuses for the control but i have checked and don't see any blown ones.

the vacuum canister thing is still ok i don't see any obvious rips but it is sorta hard to really inspect.

is this a common problems? has this happened to u?

Look up under your dash on the brake pedal.
The pedal activates a switch that deactivates cruise when we tap on the brakes.
There is a rubber piece that does this between the pedal and a relay switch that mounts to the top of the pedal.
Mine had broken when I had the same issue.
May be your issue too

Agreed with the post above. And while you're at it, order 3 or 4 of those plastic stoppers just to have them available, since there are two on the brake pedal and one on the clutch pedal (if yours is a manual).

while your down there change the stopper for the gas pedal. when that one falls off your throttle will stop responding until you change it. it's green but a black one works just the same.

Also, make sure you check for any brake lights not working. All three should illuminate with the brake pedal is depressed. If even one bulb is out, the circuit will be incomplete and the cruise control will not work. Also make sure you're not using the Sylvania "extra bright" tail light bulbs or any higher wattage bulbs. Those will cause problems too.
