Intake Installed - I30

OK, so I finally decided to install an intake in my i30... I was gonna get the STILLEN one, but i didnt for 225 reasons. Instead, i bought the Tenzo-R short stack and MAF adapter for 50 bux. Sure beats gettin it in the bum from Steve Millen, eh? So, i go to install it, and after 2 hours of shivering, bleeding and cursing, I got the damn thing in. It looks great, sounds great, but i was not able to get the intake manifold to fit 100% snug with the other end of the intake manifold... For example, say the intake manifold looks like this:
________
(gap)<->|
______________|_|
| | <--Base of adapter
As far as i | |
can get the | | I can only get it to where the solid
manifold back| | Lines are... Its tightened down with
in. --> | | that bracket they give you, you guys
| | think its ok??
| |
Airflow --> | |
| |

You bought an Infiniti and your a$$ is too cheap to shell out the beans for $tealin?!? I hate to say it, but that's whack.

Are you the type who goes to an upscale restaurant with 5 ppl, order tons of shiznat, and then tips the waiter $1?

Are you the type of person who steals toilet paper from MacDonalds cuz your a$$ is too cheap to buy it?

WTF?

I am feel shamed by the fact that you own a Nissan product.

At least you coulda gotten a Frankencar and supported a .Org member!

Or a Berk?!?

I feel sick.

....hey @sshole, in case you havent noticed, AIR is AIR, no matter what brand filter it is pulled through. Damn, you know what makes me sick? People who shell out inordinate amounts of money for products that are INFERIOR or EQUAL to cheaper products on the market. People like YOU. Why the hell would i voluntarily get ripped off?? Hey genious, do you wipe your @ss with hundred dollar bills?? I mean, its your @ss, isnt it worth it?? Wont it get the job done just as well as toilet paper? You are an idiot and a slave to ignorance...

Why dont people ever think before they post??

I dont see anything wrong with getting a Tenzo R filter unless it damages the car in some way. I made my own intake using flexible pipe and a generic K&N style cone filter. I dunno about hard performance numbers but it sounds damn good. Better than AEM Cai and Weapon R Dragon my two friends say. Plus I only paid 40 bucks. Not 200. With the money i saved I put it towards my Alpine headunit.

Some without a clue think modding is a contest to see who can spend the most money. You might think i'm a cheap *** for making my own intake and not buying a AEM Cai but if that 200 dollar piece of hardware is the key to ur sense of self-worth then so be it.

Yo....I have to agree that modding is about doing what you feel is right...ignore the haters. I have a home depot grill and people love and hate it. I save money! Around here, money don't grow on trees. To answer your question about the it staying on...yah i think u'll be fine. Cheeers!

Bought a Stillen hi-flo intake when I bought my Max. Had it installed at a local speedshop & am loving it. Hate to agree with NJ MAX2000, I really beleive that if yo dropped $20k+ for your I30, might as well drop two bills for a well built, turnkey instal intake. Oh well, those are just my $.02

dang nj, does it really bother you that much? it's his money, let him do what he wants. altho i do agree that a berk or franken would've been a nice nod to the guys here on the org.

as for the original question, i think 1.8 out of 2 should be fine. just drive with it the way it is without touching it and check it out a couple weekends in a row. if it holds at the same spot you're fine. if it's moved a bit, try lightly sanding down the contact areas and apply a thin coat of epoxy or something to help.

You could use a bracket on that thing though. I know how much that intake will hang and dangle without one. You can order one directly through me.

He asked for some assistance not for you to try and judge him for what type of intake he did or did not purchase. Keep your unrelated opinions to yourself and stick to the question at hand.

All I'm saying is I belive Berk (or is it Franken) intake is like ~$50, it's made and designed SPECIFICALLY for 5th Maximas, garaunteed to fit, made by fellow .Org members, and probably of better quality. I would only go with $tealin cuz they've been making it for a while now and it's definitely plug and play, no questions asked.

Perhaps I was outta line with the first post, but that's just my opinion.

I would rather go with a FC that is made by an .org member, JWT, or maybe even $tealin that has been proven already here, before a Tenzo or some type like that too, but it's whatever he wants to spend on mods that is the basis. I think he got the point.

I wanna thank the people who defended me on this thread... After reading what NJ wrote, it made me feel kinda unwelcome on this board, and made me consider leaving it. However, the positive comments the majority of you posted convinced me to stay. Not everyone on here are haters, in fact, a small few are. The majority are good people who genuinely believing in helping people. Thanks again for the tips, I'll check it this weekend and see if it moved. Oh, BTW, i notice a difference in pull, and I plan on getting a dyno done as soon as i find a shop that will do it. I'll post that asap...

Any numbers we can get on other types of intakes, no matter if they have to be "modified" to work, would be great!!
