This might be a weird question. I have viewed wiring diagrams for my 00 Maxima for years during various projects and repairs, and occasionally I've seen a diagram for a "Telephone". In the service manual, it is listed as 'EL-PHONE-01'. In AlldataDIY, it's listed as "cellular phone", but has the same diagram. I searched the Maxima forum, but cannot find any discussion about this. This has piqued my curiosity. Does anyone know what this is for?

 

Random guess - some kinda remote ignition disabler thru a phone?

 

Car phones were once a big deal.

 

It may be a design they incorporated in the prototype but at the final cut cost stages they removed the option.

The wiring for these was based on the cefiro which came with cellphones back in the day Infact on 4th gen Maximas (cefiro) they even had a cellphone dock and dash mounted mic to talk thru.

 

Very interesting! They really should have kept that feature.
