Oil leak above the alternator
Oil leak above the alternator
Ok so ive noticed that my alternator is coated with oil residue and dirt buildup. Im assuming its coming from the timing chain cover, its not necessarily a leak but more like a seep. Also the timing chain cover in that spot has what appears to be the rtv sealant hanging off, or coming off. Is there a way to seal it without taking to entire timing chain cover off??? 03 I35 by the way

As you can see the rtv is coming off
oil leaks can be repaired. most common cause is valve covers. second (only real other option) is timing covers. no, the timing chain covers can NOT be resealed without removing them.
