5.5 gen randomly stalls while driving

Like the title says, 2002 stalls out randomly while driving. It has 140k miles. Has been throwing random PO300 for years. But lately started stalling while driving. Starts right back up. Replaced all 6 Hitachi coils and coil condenser. Anyone experienced this?

have you ever replaced the CPS sensors? mine were replaced in the recall in 2003, but then around 2014 they went, it usually was just shutting off like a switch, but i remember some of the occasions it did feel like a stalling. may be worth looking into. i do know the "shutting off/stalling" happened more and more untill it would barely start. if you see the stalling occurring more often as time goes on, it could be the CPS... just my 2 cents. I had not one single code for anything as well, and had a dealer check the condition of the failing censors and they said they were fine which they werent.

This. Mine shut off two times in one day a few weeks ago and needed a CPS. Only thing is that I got a code for the CPS (it was the rear cam one).

it also is sporadic at first, i remember shutting off and then a week or even two goes by and nothing until the next time it happened, but that was only the early stages, it eventually started doing it every other trip etc.
i have to mention this, if you don't use OEM, the problem will come back with in a year, the aftermarket CPS sensors are not worth sheet.

Thanks for the tip. Found the crank sensor covered in metal from prior clutch failure. Surprised it took years for the CKP to attract all the metal from inside the bell housing. I had that clutch replaced some 2 to 3 years ago.

Change all your Cam Sensor and Crank sensor with Hitachi units if you haven't already! There was a TSB on that! O'Reilly, Advance, AZ sensors work for approximately 6 months then fail. the Hitachi OEM units last for many years!

Yep check that and the Cam sensors for debris....I do this with the ABS speed sensor as well!

I've been reading a lot of threads about a 2002 camry V6 with this same exact issue and dozens of "maybe it's this" responses that go nowhere since it could be anything.

If the car stalls at a low rpm 500-800 it might be an issue with the throttle body, you can clean that as well as the MAF sensor with some cleaner, also change air filter if dirty, next it could be a bad EGR valve, you can clean that too plenty of youtube videos or replace the valve

Now if it stalls at a higher rpm 800+ it sounds more like a fuel issue, could be a clogged fuel filter, could be a bad fuel pump, you could test fuel pressure, if its too low, likely cause.

a bad crank position sensor & cam sensor will also do this but so can 50 other things
