Electrical issues
When I started my 2000 maxima today, the battery light was on and the parking brake one was half on (dim). The parking brake was fully disengaged. The car ran fine up until today, the last time I drove it was 2 days ago and I had no issues or observed anything abnormal. Today I started it, let it idle for a minute before noticing the lights then grabbed my OBD2 reader which found no faults. My windshield wipers are also super slow and my remote won't unlock the car. Logically I must assume the issue lies with the battery, alternator, or something along the way in the charging system. The alternator and battery are both about 3 years old. It's currently violently storming so I can't take a look but what should I check for? I'm not a mechanic but I can't afford one at the moment so I don't have a choice here. I'm really hoping the alternator isn't the issue because I know it's hard to replace but I have to assume it's the most likely culprit. For what it's worth, I think the battery's terminals are pretty heavily corroded so I'll try cleaning them first and visually inspect as much as I can after that.
