ATF Magnefine filter at 52k mi

hey.
i dropped the pan years ago to cleaned the magnets that had THICK layer of metal paste.
incredibly thick metal paste. Thank god those magnets are there.

I did a total flush at home with amsoil. took 11 or 12 qts but that
completely flushed the stuff that literally looked like old motor oil.

So i forgot about the ATF and here we are 52,000mi later.
just thought i'd share.

Was totally not even going to put another filter depending how clean it is.
the old plastic magnefines have a screw-top for easy inspection.
Current ones are crimped up like a metal fuel filter, sucks.

magnet inside magnefine.
not super crazy but for sure had some metal paste.

Over all not very alarming just thought id share and recommend every car have one of these.
No filter makes no sense. That super huge screen is not a filter.

so an aftermarket inline filter? thanks for sharing! doesn't seem hard to install.

i did the full machine flush sometime ago, need to check, and have had the magnets cleaned a while back before the machine flush time. i also have an auxiliary transmission cooler (plus 4-6 quarts on top of normal amount)

That's what my magnet looked like the first time I dropped the pan. I was concerned initially. After that I did 2 drain and refills about 6k miles apart and the fluid went from a medium red to the bright red of matic D. Drove another 20k and dropped the pan and the magnet was still clean. I decided to just do drain and refills at 20k intervals (I think the manual says 30k intervals) and never had an issue with Transmission during ownership.

Get an inline filter with the magnet.
there is no filtration on these cars and some of the metal that was caught
in the paper was not magnetic.

the magnet at the bottom of the pan is not enough.
and never cleaned unless dropping the pan is part of your maintenance.
