2001 Maxima, No Codes, Stalls After ~15 Minute Warm UP
How often is it the crankshaft position sensor (REF) that stops working after it heats up vs the ECM acting up? Of course the car stalls out 30 miles from home, fuel pressure gauge, tools and the oscilloscope
The crankshaft position sensor (REF) is original and has ~165k miles. Same for the other crank sensor and cam position sensors.
From the FSM "The ECM activates the fuel pump for several seconds after the ignition switch is turned on to improve engine startability. If the ECM receives a 120° signal from the crankshaft position sensor (REF), it knows that the engine is rotating, and causes the pump to operate. If the 120° signal is not received when the ignition switch is on, the engine stalls. The ECM stops pump operation and prevents battery discharging, thereby improving safety. The ECM does not directly drive the fuel pump. It controls the ON/OFF fuel pump relay, which in turn controls the fuel pump."
After it stalls it has to cool down before it runs fine again until it heats back up. When hot it cranks but doesn't run. I tried splashing a bit of fuel onto the air filter when it stalled and it ran for a few seconds, leading me to believe the stall being a fuel vs spark issue.
Replaced the MAF with no change in behavior. Was a cheap brand two year old MAF I was going to replace anyway.

Replace all three and fuhget about it!
I was going to say hitachi like the 3.5, but I didn't see any for 3.0? I never had to replace any for 3.0. They just never failed lol.
They're completely different style, anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about manuf unless someone has had bad experience. 3.5 is whole 'nother ball game with sensors.

Was a bad fuel pump and replaced the fuel pump relay as well.
I have had a few issues with preventative maintenance over the years due to counterfeit parts. The fuel pump was replaced a couple of years ago when we restored the body and made some suspension and brake upgrades. Front "SKF" wheel bearings only lasted a few K miles before swapping to real SKF bearings. Avoid the PERFORMANCE ELECTRIC P25K fuel pump as well it seems.
