first issue after 7th gen swap

so far I put a little over 150 miles since swapping in the 2014 engine and I think I'm hearing a noise from the power steering pump. I'm starting to wonder if I over tightened the power steering belt. I just tightened the belt as much as it would go...

any opinions??

Definitely not the right way to tension the belts. Look at the FSM process here. It's always a guestimate when I install them because I don't have a way of measuring the force applied to the belt, but it's nowhere near as tight as it can go. There needs to be some deflection. If I ever do the 7th gen swap, I'll try to retain their accessories - the single belt design with an auto tensioner is just so much better.

LOL. I put belts on just tight enough they don't squeal, then an extra bit for when they stretch. Overtightening kills bearings.

I wanted to use 7th gen accessories but I just put in a brand new compressor last summer and A/C lines. I didn't want to have to buy another compressor, P.S. pump and alternator as well as make custom A/C lines.

when I get my new pump I'll make sure the belt isn't tightened as far as the tensioner will go.
