8th gen VQ swap?

So just curious if anyone has considered this. I've never done a swap but coming from the honda world I can't see why it wouldn't be possible being that its the same setup. Seems like an easy way to get to 300hp

The power isn't in the engine, but in the tuning. I would bet it's basically identical to 7th gen. So, there's no point.

Actually the power is in the engine. http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/u...-list-for-2016

So, as I said, basically identical. The 10 HP is from tuning. It probably has a little better power under the curve from the IM. Totally earth shattering.

Hard part would be the transmission since the 8th gen uses that crappy CVT. Would a 5.5 gen 4AT or 6MT even bolt up to it?

I've done an 08 Maxima engine into an 03 chassis for a customer. It's not as straightforward as a lot of the Honda swaps but is still easily doable. Considering this as a performance upgrade isn't practical though and your money would be better spent modifying the current engine in the car. A good set of long tube headers, catless Y and 3" exhaust, 3.5" intake, SSIM and a good tune will make a solid 300+ at the crank anyway, with a better all around power curve than a stock 6-7 Gen Maxima engine. If you want to get even more power, a nice set of cams and springs will put you well over 300 at the wheels. Hell I've even tuned a 96 I30 that had a 04 Altima 3.5 shortblock with slightly modified stock 3.0 heads, stock Z cams, ****ty OBX headers, Cattman Y, Greddy exhaust, stock air box with hard pipe & K&N filter mated to an LSD 4spd tranny that made over 240 at the wheels. Point is the VQs in general can all make similar power so the cost and effort involved in putting a 6-8 gen motor in a 5-5.5 gen just isn't worthwhile.

He means 2016 motor...not sure if you mean gens or years. The new DEs are definitely worth using.
