Any one having this common problem with 5th Gens. Suggest checking PCV valve. If stuck open, this will lead to excess oil getting into the Manifold. Thus causing oil burning with excess smoke out the back. Had this problem simple fix.

 

Consider yourself lucky! My son's 2003 I35 burned oil at the rate of 1/2 QT with every gas fill-up.

 

if a 3.0, sure. 3.5....yeah it needs an engine
