1st upgrade 2000 Maixma

I have an automatic 2000 Maxima. What should my first upgrade be?
Suggestions?? Oh, I want more speed or better response!
Thanks

I'd go with a better-flowing intake, like Berk Tech or a CAI (more $$$). You'll get better acceleration and response from the engine!

I agree with Cutlr7 and Kev.....

Get the FSTB and the RSB, you won't be disappointed. Not all driving is straight line, so being able to take turns faster is FUN!!!

when I was younger... I would definitly suggest intake and exhaust and y-pipe.. but as I am getting older... I start to think that 222 HP is enough... I want handling now... so I would say FSTB, RSB, and lower it.....

The first mods I'd recommend are:

1) Front Strut Bar
2) Rear Sway Bar

then move onto the supercharger.....j/k!

fstb and rsb first!

listen to Y2kevse......he is a wise man.

Ok it looks like these two are the winners.

1) Front Strut Bar
2) Rear Sway Bar

Now I am thinking Stillen...is that a bad choice? Is there a better product for less or equal cost?
Thanks for all your advice. I don't want to go wrong on my first invesment.

Opinions vary on the matter...
1) Courtesy and Stillen both make a FSTB...~70 for Court ~180+ for stillen...difference...look. Thats it. Period. You decide what is best for you
2) Adco (sp?) and Stillen. Adco you have to "jerry-rig" a bit to get it to fit. Stillen is less so but you still have to "think" before you put it on. Again Stillen is the more expensive but in this small instance I (opinion given here) think it would be worth the $$$ to go here.

But again its mostly to do with $$$$ and style really. You choose.

My first mod was my Greddy. By the way how much HP gains does the Greddy EVO give me. My next is the FSTB and RSB I like the courtesy strut bar and the stillen sway bar. Where are you guys getting those different smilies other then the ones on the side?

in general i would always recommend going with kev's suggestion. but in this case, i would have to say that the single biggest improvement, handling or otherwise, came from new tires. if you're still on your stock potenzas, dump em. you certainly won't regret it, and you don't have to corner hard to notice.

RSB install

ADDCO is a tad more difficult to install than the stillen, I admit. But they both function the same and serve the same purpose. Ask those guys who have tried to take the Stillen off and how much it is a pain to do, the brackets corrode together, hehe.

I would say ADDCO is the way to go.

is the handling noticable whe you get the Front Strut Bar and Rear Sway Bar? When you get that upgrade, how long will it last approximately?

Yes, if you do the two at the same time you'll notice a huge difference...but you will notice them separately as well.

How long will it last? What do you mean? How long until you forget how it used to feel? How long what?

NOBODYS got my back?!?

Am I TOTALLY wrong here about first mods??? I mean, I've got the Courtesy FSTB, which I love, but for the $$$ the Berk was the way to go! Of course, I had NO $$$ after buying the car, so I couldn't spend $200-300 on various suspension enhancements, or tires!

Hey...just let me get new wheels, and the rear sway bar and I'll change my tune

im also thinking of getting the FSTB for my next mod. Will i notice a differenec with just this mod? I dont really wanna make holes in my trunk to install the RSB. Also install is nothing right? thanks for the input. Also is it ok to buy it used? Will there be a difference between a used or new one?

1. Yes, you will notice a difference. The FSTB will increase steering response very clearly. Install is cake, but you will need a torque wrench to do it properly ($25-$75 at any hardware store). You can guess at torque values if you're broke.

2. The RSB does not require drilling anything...it is a bolt on modification. The RSTB (rear strut tower brace) does require some work, but most people agree that this is a useless modification on the Maxima's rear suspension. The RSB (rear sway bar or anti-roll bar) does a great job of reducing body roll on hard, high speed turns and does not require anything other than a ratchet and some patience. Very beneficial modification.

See Paul's write up for the RSB install instructions:
