any problems with radar detector?

I bought a bel 980 about 4 weeks, I still cannot use it well. Even sometimes I see the cop's car just in front of me, but the radar detector just like nothing happened! Is it broken? But I'm sure it's beeping when I go to a supermarket or a bank. Anyone knows???

Ugh, cops don't have their radar on all the time. Get on the highway, and keep drivin until you see Highway Patrol/Stateys on the side of the road. When you drive past, and if they have a gun aimed at you, check your Bel. If it still doesn't say anything, then you have problems.

ive got a bel 855sti and it falses all the time. im not talking about a supermarket or any other motion sensors, it just goes off. i sent it back to bel while it was under warranty and they replaced whatever inside of it and it was fine for a couple of months and now its acting up again. it seems after ive been driving for a while it works fine, but all that falsing drives me nuts.

Valentine One ONLY!

Buy a Valentine One! Do NOT try and save a $100 on a radar detector by going with something else. Once you TRAIN yourself on how to use a Valentine One you know how many signals are around, which are REAL threats, and which direction they're located.

I've had it for about a year now and it's saved my A$$ at least 4-5 HUGE tickets, if not a trip or two to jail.

It's paid for itself more than once now! I got a BS ticket within 2-months of owning my Max and none since(knock-on-particle board!).

Best $400 mod I ever bought! I can't praise this thing enough.

Escort 8500 Here

I recently bought the Escort 8500 and it seems to work real good also. Not too many false alarms and you can cusomize it to eliminate the X band all together. In the last week, I avoided two tickets.

let it be known that radar detectors detect radar. not police cars, not police officers, not police dogs. just radar signals.

Do they detect police helicopters? I hate it when LAPD has a chopper following me. It makes it impossible to get away.

if you blow up the helicopters, they'll sick the FBI on you. But just do R2-R2-L1-R2 then go up & down 3 times, and they'll back off. Oh wait.. or is that GTA? I dunno.. everything's merging together....

Make sure you have no metal blocking the radar antenna...NO METAL.....many tints have metal in their composition...essentially creating blinders. Even the rear defroster screws with the reception.
