2k2 SE Pricing..[again]

alrite, as you guys and see, I'm a newbie to the forums here but have spent about the past 3 days lookin at the site and tryin to find what I need. Yes, used the search, unfortunately theres nothing really current. [If there was and i missed it..sorry for makin a useless "this has been discussed 100000 times post"]. Onto the question. I'm in college, and am lookin for a car to handle commuting frm college for the fall. Currently have a 99 Grand Am which is decent I guess [whose lease is up in April]. Anyways, I went to a dealer around here and decided the Maxima was better than the Alti. for what you get and at the 3.9% financing it really makes sense to go that route. What is a reasonable price to pay for a basically stripped SE model. NO options at all..just a 2k2 SE..AUTO. Dealer has quoted me $25K [w/o tax etc]. What is a fair price this "starving college student" should pay for the car? Is $22K dreaming? Anyways, longer than it should be..but thanks for reading..[please dont suggest gettin a used car..am tired hearing that frm every1 around me..lol]. Thanks again.

If you live in the south several dealers in Atlanta are advertising SE's around 21,500. Check Atlanta newspapers.

Re: Check out Canada

How much does it cost (estimate) for a SE in Canada since it comes fully loaded in USD? My friend just got one in NYC for 26,800 w/o tax fully loaded. Thanks for the estimate.

Invoice w/destination is $23411 for an SE auto w/no options. A fair price would be a few hundred over invoice, so $25K sounds like they're trying to ream you. But, you have to factor in how many Nissan dealers are in your area. If you live out in BFE and they're the only one within a hundred miles, they may have the upper hand and might be able to get what they're asking for. I live within 20 miles of three dealers, so I was able to get a pretty good deal. I also saw an advertisement last week for the same car you're looking for, and they had it listed for about $23K even. Can you say "bait and switch?"

Whatever you do

do not pay more than $300.00 to $500.00 over thier invoice, and do not pay a marketing fee, even though they are ligit.

If you really are a starving college student, I wouldnt think it wise to be looking at $25,000 cars!

In Canada figure a Maxima SE 6spd with Leather pkg, Meridian pkg, sunroof, Bose, side airbags, HLSD, mats, guards for $23,100. That's $4400 under US dealer invoice. I think that's with every item possible, isn't it?

I'm always happy to help people with this. I have lots of info and can probably also give you a good contact or two. It's really not difficult for US people to buy in Canada. Just email me.

yeh..i'm like in eastern penn. where theres about 3 dealers I can goto easily. Havent checked em out yet though. I'll definately have to see other dealers because $25K seemed a lil much to me. Thanks for the info!!
btw. why am I looking at ~$25K car? I'm sick of the small little american, problem ridden, grand am I have right now and the other jap. manufacturers dont have much to off w/regards to performance in this range. The WRX is small [only reason why I excluded seeing it]. Used int. rates make it seem worth it to pay the lil extra money on the new car.

Hi guys,

Just picked mine up on the 14th. Was listed at $28.8k (non-leather, with sunroof and stereo upgrade). Purchased at $27k @3.9% interest. Unfortunately, in my area, there is only one real Nissan dealer, so, I did what I could....

Do your homework before going to the dealer. If you can find it cheap on the net, it may be worthwhile to purchase and pay shipping if necessary. That is also a good bargaining position with the dealer. Tell them up front what you want and how much you want to pay for it. If they don't offer it or work with you, take a walk. It's a good chance they will call you back pretty quick since they have to pay taxes on their existing inventories on Mar 1st

Big discounts / buy it in Canada

Guys,
I've been getting lots of mail on my buying in Canada post above. Yes, it's true. If you only have one stingy dealer around, why mess with him? In Toronto or Vancouver that loaded to the hilt SE will sell for $7400 under list!

I put more details on a Buying in Canada thread last week. Just email me and I'll pass along the info you need. I did it and I know of over 60 others who have too.
