Took Delivery - HLSD/NAV (Pics)

After 3.5 long months (one for each liter??), I took delivery of my new HLSD/Nav-equipped car. I don't have many impresions yet, except to say that fit, finish, power, are all excellent.

I took some pics of the car, including the NAV system and posted pics on my site.

Greg,
congrats, nice pics.

I noticed on the sticker, above where it tells the exterior color it says "automatic transmission". Weird (obviously its 6 spd)

Thanks all for the congrats...

In answer to the questions...

1. Yes, those pics were taken at Jones Beach. One of them is in front of the amphitheater. I had to move some barriers to get in there for my photo op!!!

2. You guys are EAGLE-EYED, man! The sticker is incorrect - it says "automatic transmission". It's a 6-speed (I'm pretty sure!).

3. The detailing job is from Smithtown Nissan. The car had been prepped and delivered literally hours before the pics were taken.

4. Steve - I'm gonna wait on modding for a little while!!!! Not ready to dig in just yet.

It's because of the NAV. I didn't actually pay that much!!!!

I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid!

What are those two buttons below the left dash vent for? On my 2000 they are dummy panels. Just another item nissan knew they were going to hold out on when they started production. I hate when companies take features out of a car.

Greg,

I'm getting my car on 2/22/02 (at least that's what my sales manager told me).
Did you get $1000 back (or 0.9% financing)
or did the dealer give you a hard time?

I'm in the same boat-- my sales manager put in an order for a 6spd HLSD Max on
Nov. 4. I'm looking forward to having it by Friday.

Thanks!

I took the $1000 cash back and the 5.99% financing, because I financed a very small amount ($7500) of the total purchase price, so it paid. If you are financing a larger percentage of the car, the low finance options (0.9, 3.9) would probably work better. You have to work out the amortizations and check the numbers before you decide what you want to do.

Smithtown Nissan is definitely the best car dealership I have ever been to. I had been there for service many times with my '99, and now I can say their sales are as good as the service. The dealership is huge, they move a lot of cars, and their facilities are very modern.

Buttons Below vent

One button is for the heated steering wheel and the other is for the seat memory enable/disable..

I assume that if your car doesn't have those options, the buttons are dummied or plugged in the dash, as you described.

Thanks for response, and thanks for sharing the pics of your new ride! I actually like the look of the 2k2 Max's
rear (especially with the Maxima and SE badging). The shot of the navigation system is particularly nice! Keep the pics coming (if you have any more), and ... Congratulations!

Woa Woa...are you telling me that I am the only one with drilled metal pedals that does not have the HLSD?? I don't know if there is any way to tell if I have it or not...the sticker on the car did not indicate that option.

I would be very suprised if that was/is true (a very pleasant suprise though ).

Anybody else have anything to say about this

Are you in Canada? The HLSD is standard with the 6 speed after a certain production date (don't know what that date is, though). And the metal pedals are standard with the HLSD

Actually I am in the Chicago area...and the car came via truck from LA. I looked it up on Nissandriven.com and saw that the metal drilled pedals are only available with the HLSD (so you all are right). I also pulled out my sticker and looked again...no mention of metal drilled pedals or the HLSD.

I wonder if I got lucky??

Wouldn't the front differential look different with the HLSD? If so, anyone have a picture?

I have the ESM for the 2002 Maxima, and it makes NO mention of HLSD at all. I would really love to know how one can tell if one has HLSD, if you didn't know. Mine said it on the sticker, and I have the drilled pedals, but my sticker also says I have an automatic, so the sticker can be wrong. I know of one guy who had the HLSD but it did NOT say it on the sticker, so go figure!

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of deal did you work out before the $1000 Rebate? Did you get them down into the Upper 20's?

Do you have the drilled pedals?

I am really starting to get curious about this one...I cant imagine they would mess up and give me a $400 option for free, but who knows.

I'm guessing.
There should be a data plate somewhere with option codes under the hood, now if you can compare the codes with someone who does have HLSD

I wonder if this would be worth starting a new thread...I am always afraid to start one of those. Some people really get off on ripping people a new one.

What do you think?

...Put it this way - I paid more than invoice, less than sticker.. I did not get what I consider to be an "awesome" deal. Considering the options I got (6-speed, HLSD) they were not willing to move too much on the price although I did get them down. What I ended up negotiating was my trade-in. I kept "walking out" and eventually got it up by $2000 more than what they originally wanted to give me.
