First thing I did when I picked my new car up from the dealer was take my front plate off. In R.I. it's ellegal but I have only been stoped once and given and I was given a 10 day correction ticket/ warning. I have been pulled over several other times and the cops never even noticed. Even if I do get a ticket it's only 50 bucks and does not go againt my insurance It's worth the risk!

I'm trying to figure out how all the corvettes in Texas get away with it. I took mine off and I'm in Dallas. I've been pulled over for my supposed blue sidemarkers (I just insist they're white and there's nothing he can do). Been pulled over for speeding. Driven right infront of cops and right behind them and never a single problem.

My plan is if I ever get called on it to just say that I bought the car used and it was like that when I got it. I justmoved to Texas and didn't know. I figre I'll get away with it the first time I actually get pulled over for it but till then.... I'm keeping it off.

Y u ask? Cause i like the way they look. And what do u think Nissans use for plates in Europe?? You think they make a special plate for Nissan in Europe? I think not. Nissan uses the same plates that BMW's and VW's use...

In Quebec we only have one plate.

I like my front plate holder. I have two mother gouges in the dealer plate, put there by idiots who can't park for a damn. No scratches on the bumper though.

(though originally I didn't like the idea either.

I think the guy means he hates it when the license plate holder is on the car with NO plate. He said if you MUST have it, put a plate on.

You know what I hate...I hate threads with titles that don't clearly explain what the content is going to be.

I told my dealer not to put the holder on my car and he said they wouldn't. We'll see if he holds to his word or not. I live in Michigan and we don't have to have front plates on our cars. I'm getting the car in Toronto, Canada but he's been warned not to put the holder on.

We've been down this road before. I think it's ill-advised not to put on the front plates in states that require them. You take the chance of being pulled over just for that, and then they find other things, like no seat belts on, illegal mods, perhaps a few beers too many, etc. Why invite trouble?

Did anybody else notice that he said he hates it when the license plate holder is on the front of the car? He then went on to say that if you must have it on, put some kind of tag in it. I believe he is referring to people in states that do not require front tags who leave the empty holder on the front of the car.

I could be wrong, but that's the way it reads to me.

You're right, but the discussion drifted off to whether to have front plates on or not. I was addressing that issue.

It hasn't come up yet heh heh so I can't vouch for my uninformed or informed decisions. Wonderful thing about police officers is that they're human..... wonderful thing about having a conceal carry license is that I show it to the officer everytime, so when he runs my driver's license, he doesn't wonder if I'm carrying. I hand it over as well as my license, they ask "Are you carrying right now sir?" I say "no, but I didn't want you running my license seeing that and wondering if I was". Most of the time I get a reply like, "seem like an honest man then". They seem to respect that.

I will say that the first time I get a warning about the license plat the suckers going back on.

i took mine off finally figured that my friends car just drew to much attention to himself with his showing off, guess the cops didnt like it too much, but keep your license plate in your trunk and when the cop pulls you over just tell him you washed the car a few days ago and forgot to put it back on

I always keep the front plate bracket off. It is illeagal in MA, but I always get away with it when I get pulled over. I just tell the cop its on order at the dealer or keep it on the back seat in a bag and tell them I just picked it up from the dealer... It works everytime. The only time I have to put it on is when I go for a state inspection, right after that it comes back off...
